4 books in the series.
My girlfriend talked me into reading them and they're not too bad. Not until the fourth at least. I would consider myself a fan of the books, but this movie looks downright horrible. Looks like it's going to be some cheap MTV movie, even though it's being done by Summit.
I made plans to go with the gf to see it opening night, but she found another chick to go with so I won't be going. I'll see it sometime, just because I read the books and would like to see some of the characters on screen, but that's about it.
The trailer looks like [censored] and I'm sure the movie will too. Kristen Stewart sucks, Pattinson isn't bad, Hardwicke(director) sucks, Lutz sucks, and Reed is the worst. Can't really speak for Rathbone or Greene though.
Plus, you can already see from the trailer how much has changed already (wtf are they doing in trees and gliding?). That's got to be just a taste of what's to come for those wanting a good adaptation.

Yeah I didn't much care for the trailer either. Another bad sign is that this movie has not had any reviews released, so I guess it's not been screened for critics or they have an agreement not to post their reviews until opening weekend.

Yeah there is 4 books in the series....my wife is reading the first book right now shes about to finish it up real quick before the movie comes out. I know we will be there this weekend for sure. She is OBESESSED with it though and she can't wait.

it should do very well

not what im normally into.......vampires and zombies and [censored] usually dont interest me.......but this was pretty well done

The teen Girl market is what drove Titanic to its huge numbers and from what I can tell that is who this film is aimed at so given that plus the generaly crappy movies this time of year it MAY be huge
